The Bulwark Pitmaster Challenge is one of the hardest fights you'll encounter in Horizon Forbidden West. Here are tips on how to prepare and beat the Bulwark pitmasters.

This challenge is one of the most brutal fights in the game. You'll bring nothing but your spear and a practice bow. Your armor and its weaves won't have an effect either so you can only rely on your unlocked Skills for passive boosts.

 that can be easily dodged. He can also block your attacks and counter them so be careful about using light attacks.

The hammer guy is the dangerous one, so you'll want to 

 damage, hits like a mule, and can cover a wide area (he can even friendly-fire his partner). Although he doesn't block, he's difficult to stagger and can also use counterattacks.

Max out all skills that improve your Resonator Blast. This includes 

Resonator Blast+, Resonator Damage, Resonator Buildup, 

(you can skip this one if you can pop the resonator blast quickly). Max out 

as well since you'll be mainly using Power Attacks during the fight.

You won't be able to use berries and potions during the fight so maxing out 

 allows you to recover health sooner once you hit the threshold.

(or any Blast Trap) on the arena. You can place them all at the center 

. This can give you an instant upper hand as soon as the fight begins.

When you're ready and out of their range, prepare a 

 (hold R2) and release it when one of them gets close enough. This has a high chance to stagger human enemies and interrupt their attacks (a little lower against hammer guy), while also charging up your 

Immediately back away after using a Power Attack to dodge their incoming attacks.

While holding your Power Attack, take note that the hammer guy can use a 

 from afar. Always be prepared to dodge this.

Continue spamming Power Attacks until your Resonator Blast is ready. Since you should 

be trying to take down the Hammer Tenakth 

first, use all your energized Power Attacks on him first.

Power Attacks are done overhead so it's likely to hit your target's head and energize it. Pop the Resonator Blast with your bow to deal massive damage. Rinse and repeat until the other guy is down too.
