So you wanna rule Chicago, huh? Well, pal, this city ain't like New York. You gotta learn the ropes, see? You should read my guide, boss. Or else, you might end up sleepin' with the fishes if you know what I mean. 

The most important aspect of running your aspiring criminal empire is the management of rackets. Speakeasies, brothels, casinos, and loan sharks will give you a steady cash flow that'll give you money. Money brings you new gang members, weapons, equipment, and the good graces of both rival gangs and the police.

In each of Chicago's neighborhoods, there are districts with their set number of rackets and racket sizes. These go for small, medium, and large, with options to upgrade certain aspects of the operation. The idea is that the more upgrades a racket has, the more money it makes for our empire. Just make sure to not overdo your upgrades on things like security too early on, or that high-earning racket might become a loss leader because you're spending too much on paying the guys securing the joint.

When you inevitably enter into a Mob War with one of the rival gangs, they'll target your rackets. Make sure to keep these places protected because damaged rackets give you no income. That also means you can cripple an enemy gang by going after their most lucrative rackets first.

In Empire of Sin, you've got all kinds of hoods willing to break heads for you at the right price. They all have different specializations too.

Just like the rest of the criminal underworld, these guys all have a network of friends, enemies, and lovers. The better you treat your guys, the more they'll like you as a boss, and the more chances they'll recommend a friend of theirs to join your gang. This is how you get the dangerous hoods on your payroll. Better have them under you than under your enemies.

But make sure to have enough money in the bank to pay them, because each new gang member has a take or salary you'll have to give them every week. Miss too many payments and you might end up making them leave your gang and join another one.

When you start, you'll notice that most districts in your neighborhood are held by thugs, no-name criminals who don't belong to any faction. That's why their territory is ripe for the picking, especially in the early game. No troublesome mob wars with these fellas because no one's gonna miss 'em.

get into a mob war with another gang, you'll wanna end it as fast as possible. The longer a mob war goes, the higher the police activity in the neighborhood gets. If the police activity in the neighborhood gets too high, the crushers will come in and shut down all rackets in that area. That's why long mob wars are bad for business.

So before you get into a mob war, wait until one of your guys finds out where the rival gang leader's safe house is. This is important because you'll be able to map out which areas of the neighborhood you'll have to take to get to that safe house. The earlier you finish off the boss at their safe house, the better!

In Empire of Sin, even mob bosses have to play nice. If you don't want to play nice with the other bosses, at the very least play nice with the cops. If you get the Crushers mad, you'll risk having more cops in your neighborhood, as well as those nosy agents from the Bureau of Prohibition raiding your rackets.

To keep being in their good graces, don't kill cops on the street. Also, when the BOP raids your racket, it's better to surrender than fight it out. If you kill any agents, the cops will remember it and hold a vendetta against you. Don't forget to give a... ahem, 

 of the monetary nature to the boys in blue now and then. The money will keep them fat and happy. They might even ask you at one point to open a cop bar for them because cops love liquor too even if it's illegal.

Get good with the cops and they might just make you Honorary Deputy. That position comes with perks like Police Protection as well as having them turn a blind eye to any crimes you commit. Just like any boss who rules a city, you'll have the cops in your pocket.

So now you know what it takes to become Chicago's best boss. I suppose I should be calling you kingpin now, eh? Not yet. Go play
