Divisions are the primary means of occupying, attacking, or defending territory in Hearts of Iron IV. Knowing what kind of division to make, including what types of Battalions and support groups to put in 
is essential to winning as your chosen country.

Each Division that you can train, deploy, and use in-game are comprised of 

support group. Regiments and the one Support Group you have can all support 5 Batt/Battalions and 5 COMP/Companies.

There are primarily three types of Battalions that you can put into Regiments, with these being:

Each of these Battalions are exclusive to one Regiment, meaning that the first Battalion type you put into a Regiment will be the only type of Battalion you can put into said Regiment.

Companies do not behave similarly to Regiments – where Regiments can draw large amounts of manpower and equipment, Support Companies are often the ones that help to reduce the amount of manpower or equipment Regiments can draw from your pool of resources.

Artillery Support Groups, Logistics Companies, and Radio Companies 

To begin creating a Division Template, you must first head to the 

 tab on the upper left corner of your menu. From there, a list of currently training divisions and all your division templates will be listed. Click on the New Division button to open up the Division Designer window, where you'll see the table for Regiments and Support Companies.

Click on each blank slot and select your preferred Battalion/Company to fill the template. Once you're satisfied with the template, save it, then begin training a number of Divisions you wish for deployment!
